About Walter Rossi
Walter Rossi first got acquainted with iron at his family's forge in the mountains of central Italy. After receiving a Ph.D. in architecture from Rome University, where he studied with Bruno Zevi, he worked as an architect in London for several years, then moved to the U.S. In New York, he acquired the equipment to make metal sculpture. His sculptures have exhibited widely in this country, notably at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami; Heller Gallery, Eighth Floor Gallery, HERE, in New York; and in Europe, at The Albany, London, and the American Academy in Rome. Eventually, he turned his hand to practical objects, as well.

For more than a decade, his furniture has sold through contemporary furnishing & antiques shops in New York's Soho, & through galleries elsewhere in the country. He has also shown in the American Crafts Museum in midtown Manhattan.

Rossi continues to practice as an architect on both residential & commercial projects.

Custom Designs

Walter Rossi Inc. provides custom designs of all furniture & furnishings, not only chairs, tables, & benches, but beds, cabinets, desks, shelving, doors, gates, handrails, sliding doors, screens, & other accessories for residential & contract spaces. He is also a metal fabricator for other architects and designers.

All designs in our catalog can be sized, in scale, to your specifications.

Fabrication

	We use old-fashioned methods to forge & shape contemporary designs, & modern techniques to weld & assemble them.
No mass-produced metal furniture will endure as well as ours, which is constructed of 1/2" solid bars.
	Because our metal frames are long-lasting, we want upholstery that is durable, too. When the metal work is finished, we bend & cut wood to the shape of the piece, then affix it to the metal.
This process allows the piece to be upholstered as if it were wood, but the result is finer & stronger than what can be achieved with equally light lines of wood.

Catalogs: We recommend tear sheets be printed from the site, which will always offer the most complete & up-to-the-minute overview of our Soft Metal & Made of Iron collections.

Finishes: Stainless steel is a recommended outdoor substitute for raw iron & brushed iron finishes. Other finishes, if used outdoors, should be touched up with butchers wax every couple of years.

New York City taxes will be added to retail orders shipped to New York residences.

All orders are billed 50% at invoice & 50% before shipment.

Delivery time is currently eight to twelve weeks.

Deposits on special orders are non refundable & sales items & special orders are not returnable, but we otherwise offer a full refund on all furniture in Made of Iron that is returned within seven days of receipt in its original condition. Shipping charges are not refundable.
